Hello Tumblr! Long time no see! It’s time I updated this!!!
SUPER QUICK MOVIE REVIEW ROUNDUP
Slumdog Millionaire- Feel good movie, hope you like poop scenes!
The Wrestler- The ending could be the best or worst ending to a movie yet. BUT HE’S AN OLD HUNK O’ MEAT SO IT’S OKAY.
Rock-n-Rolla- If you liked pre-Madonna Guy Ritchite, you won’t be disappointed! Don’t worry, it’s the same ol’ convoluted crime caper we all know and love!
Horton Hears a Who- OH GOD WATCH THIS MOVIE. For serious, give it a chance, I guarantee you you’ll loooove it. I DID!
Anyways, that’s all for now… I’ll keep y’all posted when I return. Until next time…
Bill Evans - “When I Fall In Love”
I always picture this song as a perfect opener for a Woody Allen film. Not Scoop or even Deconstructing Harry, but Hannah & Her Sisters, or the venerable Annie Hall.
It makes me think of sad, dimly lit bars and the people that drink there. I picture shots of the city skyline, the lush parks, and the buildings at sunset, but coupled with the dark and seedy side. Sirens blare and people scatter as police cruisers speed through red lights. A man is too drunk to open his door - so he passes out on his front step.
Sometimes the slower songs can be the most expressive and engaging.
A reader submitted this video, and I’m actually surprised it hasn’t been posted before. The song is Bat For Lashes’ “What’s A Girl To Do”, and the Dougal Wilson-directed video is, well, creepy. It’s (impressively) one continuous shot of Natasha Khan riding a bike down a dark road, past lost trick-or-treaters and a car crash, joined by guys on BMXs with oversized animal heads, doing tricks in time to the music.
The video is equal parts absurd and eerie, and well worth watching. A higher quality version is available at Pitchfork.tv.
